Scripture makes it clear we're in one of two kingdoms, Satan's or God. Satan's kingdom is for the devils who got kicked out of heaven. In this kingdom, man will always be a victim and a slave, and the result is death. In God's kingdom, we can be as close to God as we want.

In Christ, we are free. The result is eternal life. No third option exists. There's no freedom to go our own way or create our own reality. The human ideal of absolute freedom is a lie. Many in our culture believe that they're their own God and free to do whatever they want.

We are either slaves to sin and Satan. John 8:34. Jesus answered them. Truly, truly, I say to you. Everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. And Titus 3:3. For we ourselves are once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.

Or we are slaves to Christ. Romans 6:6. Don't you know that when you give yourselves to obey someone, you become that person's slave?

you are slaves of sin, then you will die.

if you're slaves who obey God, then you will live a Godly life. Romans 6:22. But now you've been set free from sin, become slaves of God. The fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end. Eternal life, God's kingdom. You're breaking out of Satan's prison and running into Christ's freedom.

What is freedom? The dictionary says, the absence of constraint in choice or action. Basically, we believe that freedom is doing whatever we want. God's freedom in John 14:15, Jesus said, if you love me, obey my commands. So the measure of our love for God is our obedience to what he tells us to do.

Galatians 5:14-15 says, For Christ's love compels us. And in 1 John 4:19 it says, we love because he first loved us. God's freedom is freely choosing to pursue God and do what's right. Freedom is being constrained, held back and compelled, driven, urged on by the love of God.

It's joyfully obeying God because we know his love and love him with all our hearts. Real Freedom God's freedom is freedom to choose to do the right thing because the love of God constrains us or compels us to do the right thing.
