What's the purpose of the Bible? God's purpose was and is to draw us to Him. He gave us his word so we can know him, that we can come and have relationship with Him. First he saves and delivers us from Satan

and then he transforms us into new people by renewing our minds and changing the way we think. See John 6:44 to 45 and Romans 12:1 and 2. The Bible is inspired by God. This is 2 Timothy 3:16. God inspired approximately 40 authors of a period of 1500 years to write the 66 books of the Bible.

So we would have the living word of God. Hebrews 4:12 tells us the word of God is alive and powerful. It's sharper than the sharpest two edged sword. Cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. The words on the pages of the Bible carry the life of God.

It's a living book. Martin Luther expressed that truth like this. The Bible is alive. It speaks to me. It has feet, it runs after me, it has hands, it lays hold of me.
