Today, I want to release the power of 2 Peter 1:4 in your life, which can free you from temptation and sin.

2 Peter 1:4 says:
"And because of His glory and excellence, He, God, has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires."
Does this verse really say that God's promises enable you to share His divine nature? Yes! His divine nature and God's promises enable you to escape ungodly desires and sin. How does this happen? The astounding answer is through the great and precious promises of God.

Faith activates God's promises. It's a lot like plugging appliances into an electrical outlet—faith is the connection point. Faith plugs us into the powerful, life-changing promises in the Word of God. God's promises empower us to resist sin and live in victory. Romans 12 tells us how to do it.
We throw off the old sinful nature by absolutely surrendering to God.

Romans 12:1 says:
"And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him."

We lay down our lives before God every day in worship. We surrender everything to God and do this throughout the day. We worship Him with love and obedience to His every nudge and whisper.
Let the Holy Spirit renew our thoughts and attitudes.

Romans 12:2 says:
"Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."

Reject the worldly thoughts, desires, beliefs, and emotions that are tempting you. Replace them with God's promises. By faith in these promises, we’re empowered by God to resist ungodly desires and sins.

Psalm 119:11 says:
"Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You."

We put on our new nature and walk in the new nature God gave us. Romans 12:2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Renewing your mind with God's promises means planting His promises in your heart so that, by faith, they’ll grow and bear the fruit of the Spirit—the life and the character of Christ.

Romans 12:2 reveals that by changing the way you think through God's promises, you'll learn to know God's will for you. You'll become a new person, completely transformed, and you'll be equipped to complete God's plans and purposes for your life.
