In life, it’s easy to feel powerless, especially when you face challenges that seem insurmountable. However, God wants you to know that you’re not powerless—you’ve just been living like you are. Through His Word, God shows us how to overcome adversity and walk in His authority and strength.

Jesus Himself acknowledged that life would be difficult. He told His disciples:
“In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NIV)

This powerful statement reminds us that no matter how great the challenges we face, Jesus has already conquered them. He is greater than any circumstance. Not only has He overcome the world, but He has also equipped us with His authority to do the same.

In Matthew 28:18-19 (NIV), Jesus said:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations...”

Through His death and resurrection, Jesus restored humanity’s authority over the powers of darkness. He didn’t just conquer the enemy—He empowered us to do the same. This is further reinforced in Luke 10:19 (NIV), where Jesus declares:
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”

The symbolism of snakes and scorpions refers to Satan and his demons, as first seen in Genesis 3:15, where God told the serpent (Satan):
“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

This verse prophesied Jesus’ victory over Satan but also reminds us that as children of Eve, we too are called to crush the enemy’s head. While Satan may attack us, God has given us the authority to overcome him.

However, this authority isn’t about our own power; it’s about releasing the power of Jesus through faith. As Christians, we are united with Christ, and our strength comes from Him.

In Ephesians 6:10 (NIV), Paul writes:
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”
The NIRV makes this even clearer:
“Finally, let the Lord make you strong. Depend on his mighty power.”
Paul emphasizes that the source of our strength is God. We don’t face life’s battles alone—Jesus stands with us, empowering us to overcome. Ephesians 6 goes on to explain how to access this power through the armor of God.

To stand against the enemy, we must "put on the full armor of God" (Ephesians 6:11-18). This includes:
• The helmet of salvation to protect our thoughts.
• The breastplate of righteousness to guard our hearts and moral integrity.
• The belt of truth, which counters Satan’s greatest weapon: deception.
• The shoes of the gospel of peace, giving us a firm foundation in Jesus.
• The shield of faith, which extinguishes Satan’s flaming arrows of doubt and fear.
• The sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God—our offensive weapon against the enemy.

The Word of God is powerful. Through it, God speaks to us, strengthens our faith, and equips us to face life’s challenges. As Romans 10:17 explains:
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
This "word" is the Greek term “rhema,” meaning the spoken Word of God.

Faith grows when we hear God speaking directly to us, whether it’s through scripture, prayer, or an inner knowing. These personalized "rhema" moments are God’s promises to us, empowering us to face any obstacle.
Jesus demonstrated this during His ministry. He spoke to circumstances, and they changed. The sick were healed, the demon-possessed were set free, and the dead were raised. Jesus displayed His authority over every work of the devil, and He has given us that same authority.

In Mark 11:23, Jesus says:
“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.”

Mountains symbolize the problems we face in life. Through faith in God’s promises, we can speak to our mountains and see His power released.
No matter what you’re going through, know that God has given you His authority and power. You’re not powerless. Depend on His might, stand firm on His Word, and watch Him move in your life.

As Paul reminds us:
“Finally, let the Lord make you strong. Depend on his mighty power.” (Ephesians 6:10, NIRV)

God is waiting for you to take hold of His promises, walk in His authority, and overcome the challenges in your life.
