What if your identity wasn't something you had to find, but something you were meant to grow into? The Bible repeatedly tells us to put on Christ. Ephesians 4:22 24 says to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds and to put on the new self created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24 gives you the practical steps. Take off your old self, your old way of thinking and living. That means unplugging your old way of fulfilling desires. Don't let desires drive you to do the things you used to do. Be renewed in the spirit of your minds. Renew your mind with God's word and the wisdom of godly people in your life.

Put on Christ.

Accept the fact that your spirit is perfect before God. Right now your life has been united with Christ. You no longer have any sin in your life. Jesus came to make you whole. Jesus wiped out your past. In God's eyes it is no more. Now there's only you and the future you'll have.

Together with God. You'll have the same basic desires. We all have them. But pursue God's way of filling your desires. Don't try to fill them yourself or desperately seek others to fill the deep desires of your heart. Let God do it. He wants to, and so much more as you do that you'll walk God's path to maturity and the amazing life God has waiting for.
