David, the man after God's heart, has known God's love since he was a lonely shepherd boy rejected by his family. He trusts God not to remove that love. This isn't pie in the sky thinking. David continues, "Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you." He acknowledges how he feels but chooses to remember God and all He has done.
This is a powerful strategy for dealing with difficult times, especially things you don't understand. Remember the good times with God. Remember all that He has done for you. Remember Jesus and the cross, and be encouraged. Remind yourself of how much God loves you and how He's shown His love to you again and again.
Remember all the times He's rescued you. In verse eight, David continues, "But each day the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me." David looked to God for love while running for his life. He stopped trying to understand why this was happening and simply turned to God. Just because we go through hard times doesn't mean God isn't with us, beside us, loving us.
Jesus told us that we have an enemy who came to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus continues, "I have come that they might have life and have it to the full." John 10:10 Jesus later gave us a warning, then a powerful promise: "In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33
