He's the most powerful being in existence. His words can move mountains, stop storms, create life, command dark demonic forces, and stop time. Yet with us, He is gentle, kind, loving, and forgiving. Can you imagine how humble you would have to be to become a human being when you're God?
Jesus was there at the beginning. When man was created, He took part in creation. Yet Jesus, the Creator, humbled Himself to take the form of a man, to be born as a diaper-soiling, squalling infant so He could reveal God to us in a way that we could understand. He humbled Himself so He could show us what a man empowered by the Holy Spirit could do.
He showed us who we could become. The final humiliation was allowing Himself to be crucified like a common criminal, mocked and jeered as He suffered an agonizing death. Jesus did that so that we could be restored as sons and daughters of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2:
"And let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who, for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
The joy set before Jesus was knowing that you and I would come into God's kingdom because of what He had just done.
