The Holy Spirit sanctifies our souls. He makes us holy and available to serve God. He does it day by day, so it's a lifelong process. But the process is not automatic. A lot of people are sitting back, waiting for God to change them, and that's just not going to happen.
God isn't making robots. He wants sons and daughters. He wants friends. He wants us to love Him the way He loves us. And love demands a response. Our response is to become like Christ. We must be actively engaged in loving God, renewing our minds with God's Word, and doing what God shows us to do.
This is the transformation process described in Romans 12:1–2:
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing, and perfect will."
1. First, give yourself to God—all of you. Be a living sacrifice, holy and available to do anything God wants.
2. Second, reject the thoughts and ways of the world and renew your mind with God’s Word.
3. Third, then you will know God’s plans and purposes for your life.
Commit to these three steps. Do them every morning, and see how God changes you.
