After wasting 10 years of my life as an alcoholic, God promised me he would restore the wasted years. That's Joel 2:24. That promise is for you too. There are three basic steps, I believe, to God's process to restore the years of our life we've wasted. Today we're going to talk about the first step.
The first step is to know love. God's greatest priority for your life is intimacy with Him. Now this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. Let's draw in 17. 3. God is love. 1 John 4:8. Relationship with God begins when we know.
When we experience him as love, God draws us to him. God created each of us with a need for Him. God wants us to seek him. Ecclesiastes 3:11 in the Amplified Bible says this. He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity, a sense of divine purpose, in the human heart, a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy except God.
Yet man cannot find out or comprehend or grasp what God has done. His overall plan from the beginning to the end. Every person in the world has an inner sense that there's more to life than than our physical time here on earth. And we can't figure it out with our minds.
We long for meaning and purpose for our lives. We search for truth. What we're looking for is God. God has a place, eternity, in the human heart. We sense it, we know it. It's real. We long for it and we look for it.
