"A vast army of Ammonites, Moabites and Edomites crossed the DEAD Sea and marched toward Jerusalem. They had reached Engedi, only 36 miles away, before King Jehoshaphat received word that this invading force was coming. They were close, too close. Jehoshaphat proclaimed a fast throughout Judah and gathered the people to seek the Lord in prayer.

Jehoshaphat stood before the assembly and prayed, acknowledging God's power and sovereignty. Then he prayed, "Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that's attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you." 2 Chronicles 20:12

The spirit of the Lord came on Jahaziel, a Levite who, delivered a prophetic message:

"This is what the Lord says to you. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army, for the battle is not yours, but God's. Tomorrow, march down against them. They'll be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the desert of Jerul.

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm, and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you."
This is 2nd Chronicles 20:15 to 17.

Then Jehoshaphat and the people fell on their faces before God, praising and worshiping God.

This message from God gave them courage, but it also required courage. Think about what God was asking them to do. He was saying them, um, don't stay within the safety of the high walls of Jerusalem and defend yourselves, but leave the city, go about 10 miles south, take positions, and face the vast army against you.

God was telling them to go face their problems, and that key Lord of all would fight the battle for them.

In 2nd Chronicles 20:24 it says, "Early in the morning they left for the desert of Tekoa. And as they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, listen to me, Judah and the people of Jerusalem.

Have faith in the Lord your God, and you will be upheld. Have faith in his prophets, and you will be successful."
2 Chronicles 20:22
"As they began to sing and praise the Lord, set, uh, ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah.
And they were defeated.

The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

When the men of Judah came to the place that overlooks the desert and looked toward the vast army, they saw only dead bodies lying on the ground. No one had escaped.

Praise has tremendous power to overcome the battles you face in your everyday life.
