Christians, we must find our identity in Christ, not in our own thoughts or beliefs. Ephesians 1:11-12 and the message translation says this beautifully. It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we're living for.
Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living. Part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
Let me read that again. It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we're living for.
Colossians 3:3 for you died to this world, and your new real life is hidden with Christ. In God. Your identity will be found only in relationship with Jesus. While we can't possibly imagine the adventures God has planned for us or the works he has waiting for us to do, we can pursue Him.
Your identity is not what you do, or your failures or even your successes. No, your identity and purpose are found in your relationship with Jesus, Holy Spirit and Father God. Renew your mind, letting God give you true identity and purpose in your life. Don't let your thoughts disqualify you.
Put these two verses that we read today where you can see them. Read them aloud several times today and personalize them. Substitute I for we or you. In Ephesians 1:11 it's in Christ that I find out who I am and what I am living for. And then in Colossians 3:3 for I died to this world and my new real life is hidden with God in Christ also.
One final step. Ask Jesus, who do you say I am? Listen and write down his answer. You can live from that tomorrow.
