I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.
John 10:10
Jesus calls out to you who are worn out, hurting, carrying the burdens of a fallen world and a relentless devil. He's saying, come to me. Let me take your burdens, your sin, your guilt, your shame, your problems and your pain, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28-30
Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
A veteran missionary I met in China talked about an encounter she had with a very devout Buddhist. As I recall, it was a monk, a morally good person by human standards, but one who did not know Jesus. She tried to share Jesus with this man, but he wasn't interested until she talked to him about peace.
His religion demanded constant striving to be good enough for the afterlife. He said he had no peace. He knew no rest. Whether it's a religion or the philosophies of the world, all men find out that there is no rest without Jesus, no true, deep, lasting peace without him. Come, Jesus says, enter my rest.
