People Will Be Drawn to Your Light [Isaiah 60]

People Will Be Drawn to Your Light [Isaiah 60]

You may not feel like light. You may be immature. You may have many flaws, but the light of Jesus burns in you the moment you express your faith to God and give God your life. I was deeply flawed (a recovering alcoholic), but God used me to bring Jesus to others. He will use you too.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.

See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples,

but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.

Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.

Isaiah 60:1-3 NIV

Jesus is the light Isaiah prophesied.

Faith in Jesus comes only one way – hearing the word of God, the message about Jesus. (Romans 10:17)

Through faith in His name, you now have the light of God burning in you.

When you were born again, your spirit was regenerated.

Your spirit was made Holy. And set apart for God’s purposes.

Now, you carry God’s glory – his radiance, His presence, His anointing.

People look at you and see the light of Jesus in you.

Nations will come to your light!

Kings (important people) will be drawn to you.

“You are the light of the world.”

 Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)

Jesus said:

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Jesus walked the earth as the light of the world. Then Jesus’ time on earth ended. God multiplied Jesus’ light. He gave Jesus’ light to everyone who believes in Him. You and I carry the light of Jesus with us everywhere we go.

You were put in your house to give light to everyone in the house. You are the light of God to your family, your friends.

You were put in your neighborhood, your place of work or school, to let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

When I arrived in China, in 1989, I was surprised by how many people said to me: “You are different. Even from other foreigners. Why are you so different?’

I was a recovering alcoholic. I’d only been a Christian for a little over a year when, out of fear of going back into my alcoholic lifestyle, I asked God if I could work for Him full time. I believed that if I could, I would really get to know Him and that I would never walk away from Him once I knew Him. He answered that prayer.

But I was still a mess. I hadn’t developed much Christian character.  I was painfully aware of how broken I was after 10 years of addiction to alcohol.

God made me, a deeply flawed, young Christian to be light to people who lived in  the deep darkness Isaiah described. Many people drawn to the light had never even met a Christian before and knew nothing about Jesus. But faith comes by hearing the Word of God, the message of Jesus.

God will make you a light to everyone around you. It is His plan for your life. No matter if you’re a new Christian or if you think you’re not very mature. You are the light of your world! Go burn brightly for Jesus!!

 You were born for this.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16 NKJV

 Ask God this one question.

Father, what good work can I do today that will bring you great glory in the hearts and minds of people?
Now. Do what God showed you.
